Welcome to the Launch of the New Spirit Employed Website!
A Matter of Time
I haven’t been missing-in-action these last 18 months. Honestly. I haven’t.
First, I want to thank those of you who wrote or called me wondering if you’d fallen off my newsletter distribution list. It was truly heart-warming. Additionally you were providing valuable feedback for my proposed plan.
I think you’re entitled to an explanation as to my whereabouts and activities since I disappeared from your computer screens in the summer of 2006.
About 18 months ago I decided to convert my semi-weekly newsletter to a blog. I reasoned there would be several benefits:
- First, we would create an on-line community because it allows me to speak to you, and each of you to speak to me and to each other.
- Second, the commentary would be as current as reasonably possible and perhaps more relevant thereby.
- Third, while the frequency of my communications would increase, they would also shorten in length.
- Lastly, regular communication through a blog is more in line with my developing on-the-road lifestyle.
Simple enough.
I never really know how long a journey through change will last, although I can say that it’s almost always longer that I think it’s going to be.
We first developed an add-on “blog” module to the existing website. As it turned out, planning and designing that module raised questions. The answers took time. More questions led to more answers, questions, even further plans.
In the middle of all that my dad got quite sick while visiting Albuquerque, New Mexico, over 3,000 miles from his home in Honolulu and over 1,000 miles from where I live in San Jose. Along with the logistical nightmare the situation presented over a period of several months, I found myself dealing with the prospect of losing him. (He’s fine now and, as is often the case, it turned into a healing journey for many people, but most importantly for him and for me.)
Back at the company, we redirected our focus to the Spirit Employed Life Balance Equation™, the importance of Life Balance to individuals in general and to organizational cultures in particular.
We developed a new corporate logo, changed the company’s “look and feel,” and redesigned and simplified the website, which we also made “blog-centric.”
One more important thing: the revised focus resulted in increased business opportunities that have kept us very busy, which only made it harder to get the reinvention process completed, although each new opportunity gave us further answers about what we do and how we do it.
All in all, the process has taken much longer than the three to four months we originally anticipated.
The results of all that effort are right here. If you’ve gotten this far, you’re already on the new website!
Take some time to look around; we think you’ll find the simplified navigation to be easy and intuitive. Let us know what you think. (And for heaven’s sake, please tell us if you see anything that needs to be repaired like a dead-end hot link or a major typo!)
You might also contact us by phone or email to discuss what focusing on Life Balance issues and the Life Balance Equation can do for your organization.
Choose to have a great day, Ace!
